Group presentations with Jonathan Prestwich

In the group:

Betty

Steph

Ben

Me (Vanessa)

Taiyo

It was really interesting to be apart of this group. It was so open and it was a great how Jonathan allowed the conversation to explore different areas. It felt like a very natural environment and space. I think it was a very safe place where everyone could express himself or herself and feel comfortable.

Betty

  • Physical canvas was shown
  • the interest of looking through a magnifying glass has been explored
  • Steph suggested Betty to read ‘Art & Fear’ – I think this would be also good for myself to read
  • Video was shown of the detail of what had been used on the canvas
  • Scanning of a paint brush, very effective in being abstract and great contrast shown
  • Jonathan thought the digital was more strong than the canvas
  • I thought maybe the canvas was a way for Betty to build up and think about the process of creating the digital work and that maybe a different material should be experimented rather than just canvas
