Low Tech Makerspace

It was an interesting experience to see the makerspace that is within the organisation One Happy Family. It is an organisation that is a community project for refugees just outside the Mairo camp in Lesvos.

The Makespace is more about low tech technology to help the daily life of refugees. For example they are currently making ovens using tin cans and found materials. I find this a great way to encourage the community to be involved and make something practical. It allows for limited waste by reusing items for a different purpose, allowing for environmentally friendly purposes.

The makerspace allows for community involvement and giving people something to do with limited resource. However, I do think that this is not for everyone. That it should be something that the person finds an interest in, the past events may not allow the person to feel like being involved in an activity like this.
